Vesterålen and Lofoten 2006

We got up at 7.30 hrs. It was raining. After breakfast we packed our stuff. We drove to the harbour, which is just a couple of minutes away from the camping site. Then we took the ferry from Moskenes to Bodø. The departure should have been at 10.00 hrs. but it was 30 minutes late. It was a violent trip, the waves were very high and it was a heavy sea. As a matter of fact right here is the strongest flow in the world! At 14.00 hrs. we arrived in Bodø.
We came into the harbour beside Hurtigruten's MS Nordlys, which should leave the harbour at 15.00 hrs. The weather in Bodø was much better than on Lofoten. It was still a bit gray but even the sun was shining again.
We drove the nice coast road number 17 from Bodø southwards. At the Saltstraumen, the strongest tidal current in the world, we had a lunch break.
We spent the night at Kjellingstraumen Fjordcamp, a nice litte camping site. We even had a fast internet connection here! There were hardly any people here.
