Vesterålen & Lofoten 2006
Vesterålen and Lofoten 2006
Wednesday, August 2, 2006
We had breakfast at 10.00 and left the camping site at 11.30 hrs.
We went to Gimsøy, one of Lofoten's smallest island. Between Gimsøysand and Saupstad we had a break. There was a nice sand beach. Nobody was there and we walked along the beach.
There is a very little shop as well so we bought some food. We drove to Hov. There is Lofoten's only golf course and even a very nice camping site. We drove around the island Gimsøy and over the little bridge to the island Vestvågøy. We went on road number 815 along the coast. We made a stop in Brostranda. There is a nice camping site, too but it was quite windy there. At the camping site there is a very nice little shop selling precious stones, jewelleries, candles and decorations. We bought some precious stones and a nice necklace.
Then we went back over the little bridge to the island Gimsøy and drove to the camping site in Hov. It is run by Unni and Inge, who also have a farm. The golf course, which is close to the camping site, is run by their son. It is a very nice and little camping site and beside us there were only two more families. Behind the camping site there is the mountain Hoven and on the other side is a beautiful bay and a sand beach.
The weather was great and we went down to the beach. For dinner we had pasta and sauce. We enjoyed the nice view and went to bed quite late.
