Vesterålen and Lofoten 2006

Today it's one week ago since we left home and we have driven already 2186 km. And we've seen a lot! Even today it's sunny and warm.
We went up quite late and after breakfast we had a nice and long walk along the beach. The turquoise blue water is glittering in the sun. The sky is blue and the clouds are stuck at the mountains.
Then we packed our stuff and left Bleik.
We drove southwards along the west coast of the island Andøya. It's a nice road and we passed mountains, bays and a lot of white sand beaches. There were almost no other cars on the road.
We came to Risøyhamn and took road number 82 to Stokmarknes. We had already passed these villages with Hurtigruten some years before.
A car passed us, they were waving and pointed at the side of our camper. So we stopped and checked, if something was wrong. Wow - we had forgotten to close the side hatch. But fortunately nothing was missing so we closed the hatch and went on.
From Stokmarknes we drove to Melbu, where we took the ferry to Fiskebøl. Now we were on the Lofoten again! We bought some delicious strawberries.
We took road number E10 eastwards and turned into a small road along the Raftsund. It's a very narrow and deep fjord, which we even had passed with Hurtigruten some years before.
We continued to Digermulen and then back to Raften. There was a small camping site at the fjord. We spent the night there. Unfortunately it became shady quite early since the sun was behind the mountains.
We had pasta and lobster and it was really good! Then we took a walk to the beach where we found some nice shells and some dried sea anemones.
Just after midnight the Hurtigrute, MS Richard With, came through the Raftsund and passed the camping site. It was great to see this big boat drivning through this narrow fjord and so close to the camping site.
Then it was time to go and get some sleep.
