We got up at 7.00 hrs. After the breakfast we went outside, where jeeps were waiting for us.
We had a nice tour with the jeeps through Rio and through the rain forest Tijuca national park. The road was narrow and went up and down. Suddenly we were passed by an ambulance, which continued down the road in high speed. Just some km further the ambulance stood at the side of the road. It seemed that they had some problems with the engine. A nurse was standing beside the car and somebody in the car tried to start the engine.
Now we should get out of the jeeps and help them. But what happened then? The back door was opened and two nice samba girls and three musicians left the car! It was all a fake! Now it was music and dance right in the middle of the road! We had so much fun!!! This was really a nice surprise!
Later on we continued through the Tijuca national park and up on the hill Cocovado, which is 710 meters high. On the top of the hill the Cristo Redentor is placed.
The Cristo Redentor is much larger than we had thought. We took the elevator up and spent some time up there. It was nice to see it and be up there. Even if it was a little misty, the view over Rio and the beaches was great. Then we walked down on stairs with 220 steps, where the jeeps were waiting for us.
The jeep tour continued through the Tijuca forest. We even saw some monkeys. Finally we stopped on a road quite high on the hill. A door in a wall was opened and we entered a restaurant, which we first could reach after going down some steep stairs. We had lunch at this nice open air restaurant.
After lunch we went back to the hotel.
Now it was time to relax and enjoy the nice weather. We went down to the Copacabana and had a nice bath. The water was relatively cold and very salty. There were very high waves and we had a lot of fun. However, we didn't stay very long because it's not very safe on the beach there. It's hardly possible to leave your things there without watching them all the time. There are so called "beach rats" who will steal whatever they can. And those sellers, who sell a lot of trash, are really a pain in the neck.
So we went back to the hotel, which is located right at the Copacabana. We had a nice time at the pool. It's safe here and we could bath and enjoy the fantastic view over the Copacabana and the sugar loaf. And they had some real good Caipirinha there as well. ;-)
At 17.00 hrs we had a meeting in one of the conference rooms called "Copacabana". There were a lot of costumes, hats, wigs, etc. Now it was time to choose a costume and try it. We had a lot of fun. Maybe it was the fault of the nice Caipirinha, which was served there... Finally everybody had chosen a costume. Now we should just put them in our rooms. We wouldn't need them any more today.
Then it was time for the pool and Caipirinha again. Great!
At 19.45 hrs we went with a bus along the Copacabana to a fantastic fish and shellfish restaurant, which is located at the end of the beach. Its name is Marius Degustare and it's described as Rio's best and most famous fish restaurant.
We were sitting outside and were eating and eating and eating. It was both buffet and waiters were running around, changing plates and refilling food. It was a great service! We were singing and had a lot of fun.
When we came back to the hotel, we changed our clothes and went down to the pool. Nobody but we was there. We had a Cappuchino, Caipirinha and a midnight bath. Now at night we heard the waves from the Copacabana even more. It was a nice atmosphere.
