Today it was time to say goodbye to Amazonas. After breakfast we packed our stuff. The weather was beautiful, it was sunny and warm. We stayed all morning at the pool.

The rest of the day we were traveling. We took the flight from Manaus to Brasilia, where we had a nice lunch. Then we took the flight to Rio de Janeiro, where we arrived at 21.40 hrs.

A bus took us to the hotel. We stayed at the Hotel Sofitel Rio de Janeiro, where we arrived at 23.00 hrs.

It's a very nice hotel, which is located directly at the Copacabana and not so far away from Ipanema.

After we've checked in we got (as usual) a Caipirinha. The rooms are very large and nice, they have a balcony with a fantastic view over the Copacabana and the sugar loaf (Pão de Açucar). The bathroom was very nice, too. Quite funny, beside shampoo and various lotions, there was even a condom. :-)

The bus tour through Rio was quite tuff. It was very nice to be in Rio, but again, it's depressing to see the favelas (slums), which are not only in the mountains outside Rio, but even in the middle of the city.

It has become very late (over midnight) when we went to sleep.
