Since I had gone to bed quite early last evening I woke up at half past six already this morning. I went up and roamed around. It's such a fantastic nature here! I saw a lot of lizards, both small and large ones. I also went down to the "pool". Well, it didn't really look inviting. It is a natural pool with running water, no tiles or ceramics. Who know what I would find in the pool while bathing? However, it was a nice pool to look at.
It had stopped raining and it almost looked like the sun would show up! And it was very warm! The temperature was already 29 degrees in the early morning!
After breakfast we took a long hike through the rain forest. It was really great and it felt safe to have a guide with us, who could warn us of poisonous animals and prevent us from get lost in the jungle.
The sun was shining and it became very hot.
We saw many animals - lizards, snakes, beautiful butterflies, blue birds, three different species of parrots, poisonous spiders, vultures and different species of monkeys. On our way back to the lodge we visited a station, which takes care of sick or injured monkeys. It was quite interesting to see, even if it's nicer to see the monkeys in the nature instead of cages... We continued our way on the white sand beach along the river back to the lodge.
After the hike excursion in the rain forest we were quite tired so when we came back to the lodge, we spent some time in the bar under the bamboo roof, relaxing and enjoying a Caipirinha. Then it was time for lunch. The food was very good. And there are always a lot of exotic fruits, which are so delicious!
At around 16.00 hrs we took a walk to some place not too far from the lodge. And there were some indians, who live some km away from the lodge. They went around and welcomed everybody and that was really nice. They were dancing and playing music. And then they asked us to dance as well so we were dancing with the indians. This was really a fantastic experience! The indians sold some handmade stuff as well, so we bought some small things.
Later on we went down to the beach at the river and went on board of those nice and small river boats. We made a nice trip through the creeks and stopped by in order to make some fishing. Inge got two piranhas!
There was a very nice sunset at around 18.00 hrs and the darkness came quite quickly. So we put on a lamp in the front of the boat and started to look for crocodiles. That was really exciting and creepy! Already from far away we could see their eyes, which shine red in the light of the lamp.
We saw around 10 crocodiles and two times Walter (that's the name of the guide) jumped down into the water and caught two small crocodiles. One of them was approx. 2 years old and the other one around 5.
Around 20.00 hrs we came back to the lodge. We changed our clothes and then it was time for dinner. It was a very nice buffet with a lot of different kinds of food.
After the dinner a fantastic show with indians took place. They were dancing and screaming and they had torches in their hands. Important elements in the show were sand, water, air and fire.
